You might be surprised to learn that at most ski areas, the ski patrol is a mixture of paid and volunteer employees. On busy weekends the ratio can be on the order of two thirds volunteer and one third paid while during the mid-week it is typically all paid employees. The Bear Valley Ski Patrol is no different. The volunteer patrol is made up of men and women of all ages and from all walks of life. We have doctors, lawyers, engineers, laborers, and students. We are a cross section of California. What we have in common is a love of skiing and a desire to be involved in our sport and to help others.

Responsibilities

We train and are certified through the National Ski Patrol. We put this training to use every day we patrol by providing:

• Emergency first aid and transport
• Trail directions and lift information
• Ski Trail and Terrain Park maintenance
• A safe opening and closing of the mountain
